The Brazilian government has received confirmation that Russia has approved the model International Sanitary Certificate for the export of animal-origin by-products used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical extracts (organotherapeutics).

The authorization extends to all countries that are part of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

Export of animal-origin by-products
Among the items cleared for export are bovine and swine retinas, bovine prostate and scapular cartilage, as well as bovine ovaries and thymus glands.

With this development, Brazil has secured 386 new market access points since the beginning of 2023.

Formed by Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan, the EEU has more than 185 million inhabitants and shows a growing demand for animal-based pharmaceutical inputs.

The new access expands Brazilian export opportunities, especially in the utilization of livestock by-products, aligning with sustainable practices and the circular economy.

In 2024 alone, Brazil exported more than US$ 1.4 billion in agricultural products to the bloc, with highlights including tobacco, leather, and live plants.

Recent openings
Recently, Brazil also formalized three new agreements with Chinese authorities to enhance trade in agricultural products.

The commitments were signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), covering both market openings and advancements in sanitary and phytosanitary protocols.

Among the newly authorized products for export are duck meat, turkey meat, chicken offal (such as hearts, livers, and gizzards), corn ethanol by-products (DDG and DDGS), as well as peanut meal.

The measure represents another step in deepening trade relations with China, the largest buyer of Brazilian agribusiness products.
