Mango Leads Brazilian Fruit Exports, Generating US$ 80 Million in First Five Months of 2025

Brazilian fruits play a significant role in the country’s export portfolio. In 2024, fruit exports totaled US$ 1.38 billion, with over one million tons of fresh and processed fruits shipped abroad.
“At the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, we are working to boost the international presence of Brazilian agricultural products. Today, we celebrate a very important day for the fruit sector, alongside the launch of the 2025/2026 Harvest Plan, which brings more resources and financing to give fruit growers even greater opportunities,” said Agriculture and Livestock Minister Carlos Fávaro.
Among all fruits, mango stands out as Brazil’s top export. According to the Ministry’s Secretariat of Trade and International Relations (SCRI/Mapa), mango exports in 2024 exceeded US$350 million, with the European Union, the United States, and the United Kingdom as the main buyers.
By May 2025, mango exports had already surpassed US$ 80 million, totaling 73.6 thousand tons — with the European Union as the primary destination. The Northeast region leads the country’s fruit exports, with Pernambuco and Bahia standing out as the top states.
Brazil also exports other fruits, such as grapes, lemons, and limes, as well as processed fruit products. On the import side, apples, pears, and kiwis are most common. However, according to the Brazilian Association of Fruit Producers and Exporters (Abrafrutas), the temperate climate in Brazil’s Southeast and South has supported the growing production of grapes, pears, apples, and other fruits, such as peaches and blueberries.
