Week 202528

At AAPA LATAM 2025, we are taking a decisive step toward sustainability by becoming the first port sector event in Latin America to achieve carbon neutrality. This decision is part of a structural commitment to climate action, in line with the environmental challenges facing our region and with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) promoted by the international community.

To reach this milestone, we have established a technical partnership with AMBIPAR, a global leader in environmental solutions, who will guide the process of measuring, offsetting, and certifying the carbon footprint of the congress. The initiative includes a comprehensive assessment—factoring in emissions from international travel of participants—and the offsetting of 619,647 tons of CO₂e through certified carbon credits.

This approach sets a new standard of environmental responsibility in the organization of events across the port and logistics ecosystem. It is not a symbolic gesture, but a concrete action that redefines how sector gatherings can align with the ecological transition.

The carbon offset process will be fully verifiable and traceable, ensuring transparency and credibility. This commitment will also be supported by an institutional communication strategy aimed at raising awareness of its impact and inspiring other actors in the maritime-port sector to follow suit.

AAPA LATAM 2025 is not only a space for technical dialogue and regional cooperation—it is also a platform for sustainable leadership. With this decision, we reaffirm our transformative purpose, proving that it is possible to organize large-scale events with a positive footprint on the planet.
