Brazil’s Agricultural Exports Fall 1.9% in July, Says MDIC

As of the third week of July, Brazil’s agricultural exports had declined by 1.9%, according to data from the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services.
Other sectors of the Brazilian economy, however, recorded growth in exports. The manufacturing industry saw a 7.2% increase in export volume, while the extractive sector registered a 5% rise.
Surplus
In the third week of July, the trade balance recorded a surplus of US$1.53 billion, with total trade reaching US$13.43 billion—driven by US$7.48 billion in exports and US$5.95 billion in imports.
Year-to-date, exports total US$185.48 billion, and imports total US$151.78 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of US$33.7 billion and a total trade volume of US$337.26 billion.
When comparing the daily averages through the third week of July 2024 to the same period last year, exports grew by 4.5%. Imports over the same period increased by 12.9%.
