The Santos Port Authority (APS) has completed the modernization of its data and surveillance network in the Alemoa area, on the right bank of the Port of Santos — a zone classified as high risk due to the handling of flammable liquid bulk cargo. With an investment exceeding R$3 million, the upgrades replaced radio communication with approximately 3 km of fiber optic cable and expanded the number of monitoring cameras from 12 to 32.
The fiber optic installation provides greater stability and security for real-time data transmission. The new cameras, certified for use in hazardous and explosion-prone areas, enhance monitoring coverage and efficiency, offering higher resolution and more advanced technology than the previous models.
“Each completed project reinforces our commitment to building a port of the future — more competitive, secure, and aligned with the demands of global trade,” said Anderson Pomini, president of the Santos Port Authority.
The new infrastructure supports the operational needs of several departments, including Port Security, Occupational Safety, Inspections, Berthing Operations, and Environmental Management, strengthening safety in one of the most sensitive zones of the Port of Santos.
“The integration of resources and expertise across APS teams has delivered concrete results for the port’s operational efficiency, optimizing investments and accelerating project delivery,” said Alex Henrique da Costa, APS’s Data Infrastructure Manager.
In 2025 alone, the IT Superintendency (SUPTI) has invested around R$18 million in modernization projects. These resources also cover initiatives such as a new access control system, expanded port area connectivity, and the installation of thermal imaging cameras.
Innovation Ecosystem
The Santos Port Authority (APS) continues to advance an ambitious portfolio of innovation projects to address operational challenges and solidify its leadership in the international logistics landscape. Among the initiatives underway are a dedicated 5G network, the Vessel Traffic Management Information System (VTMIS), and the launch of a mobile app that allows residents to submit public service and maintenance requests.
