Camex targets Asian imports with anti-dumping duties on steel and chemicals

The Executive Management Committee of the Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) has decided to impose definitive anti-dumping duties for a period of up to five years on imports of stainless steel tubes originating from India and Chinese Taipei. The measure was formalized in a resolution published in the Official Gazette of the Union.

The investigation began in May 2024, following a complaint filed by the Brazilian Association of Stainless Steel Processors and Distributors (Aprodinox), which alleged unfair competition causing harm to the Brazilian industry.

Measures also apply to other Chinese products
In addition to stainless steel tubes, Camex has also imposed definitive anti-dumping duties for five years on Brazilian imports of phthalic anhydride from China — a chemical used in the manufacture of resins and plasticizers.

The resolution also extended for another five years the anti-dumping measure on imports of seamless carbon steel pipes (line pipe), with an external diameter between 141.3 mm and 355.6 mm, used in oil and gas pipelines, also originating from China.
