APM Terminals Pecém, located in Ceará, achieved a historic performance from January to July 2025, solidifying the terminal as one of the country’s main logistics hubs. During this period, 389,024 TEUs were handled, representing a 38.75% increase compared to the 280,368 TEUs recorded in the same period of 2024.
The milestone of 389,000 TEUs in these seven months reflects an exceptional performance and already points to an annual result well above the 2024 record of 500,000 TEUs.
In addition to strengthening Ceará’s position in the national port landscape, the result underscores the terminal’s strategic role in the local supply chain—especially at a time when Ceará’s industrial sector leads national growth, with a 39% increase in the first quarter of 2025, according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE)’s Monthly Industrial Survey (PIM).
“This milestone not only demonstrates the potential of APM Terminals Pecém but also reflects our ongoing strategy of investing in infrastructure, expanding capacity, and adopting new technologies. These pillars are essential to meet growing demand and strengthen logistics in the Northeast region, connecting Brazil to the world through the new direct maritime route to Asia,” said Daniel Rose, CEO of APM Terminals Suape and Pecém.
During the same period, overall cargo movement at the Port of Pecém also saw significant growth, reaching 11.3 million tonnes from January to July—up 7% compared to 2024.
“Containers were one of the highlights of the period and are expected to continue growing at double-digit rates, driven by e-commerce, the fruit harvest, and coastal shipping (cabotage), especially to meet demand for Black Friday and Christmas. Our service to Asia is gaining traction. At the same time, we are advancing in the development of new business lines such as cotton, beef, minerals, and granite, as well as strategic projects for the Ceará Export Processing Zone (ZPE Ceará),” said André Magalhães, commercial director of the Pecém Complex.
