In July alone, the Port handled 1.7 million tonnes, a 46% increase compared to the same month in 2024, when 1.1 million tonnes were recorded. During this period, grain shipments (soy and corn) totaled 974,000 tonnes, while landings of steel products and fertilizers reached 634,000 tonnes and 190,000 tonnes, respectively.
“São Francisco do Sul continues to stand out as an important logistics corridor for foreign trade in Santa Catarina and Brazil. The positive figures reflect all the work done by the management and staff to keep the Port in constant growth,” said the Secretary of Ports, Airports and Railways, Beto Martins.
According to Cleverton Vieira, the president of the Port, the multipurpose nature of São Francisco do Sul is one of the main factors behind the sustainable increase in cargo volume. “Our focus is to guarantee excellent infrastructure through continuous investments in maintenance and improvements. This has enabled all segments served by the port — such as grains, fertilizers, and steel products — to show consistent growth in cargo handling.”
General data on the Port: São Francisco do Sul is the largest cargo-handling port in Santa Catarina. It ranks among the ten largest public ports in Brazil for general cargo handling. It has achieved two consecutive historic records in product handling: 16.8 million tonnes in 2023 and 17 million tonnes in 2024. It is one of the three public ports in the country with ISO 9001 and 14001 Certification. In 2024, it received three awards from the Ministry of Ports, recognizing its achievements in increased cargo handling and strong management performance. The port is responsible for 50% of all steel imported by Brazil and 80% of the soy exported by Santa Catarina.
