The highlight was the Port of Salvador, which handled 3.1 million tonnes — an increase of nearly 7% compared to the first half of 2024. With this result, the Port of Salvador accounted for 50.1% of the state’s total port activity, surpassing the Port of Aratu for the first time and becoming Bahia’s largest port. The Port of Salvador is operated by Tecon Salvador, which holds the concession, and Intermarítima, which leases two port facilities.
The Port of Aratu handled 2.9 million tonnes, up 5.5% from last year, accounting for 47.5% of the total. Meanwhile, the Port of Ilhéus handled 112,700 tonnes, representing a 2.2% increase.
