Brazil corn exports slow as U.S. harvest dominates global market

Brazilian corn exports lost momentum at the end of August 2025. Although the country had ramped up foreign sales in July, the international market came to be dominated by the record U.S. harvest, the world’s largest producer, with more efficient logistics.

At Brazilian ports such as Santos and Paranaguá, 60-kilo sacks were traded between R$64 and R$66, but low premiums and high logistics costs are discouraging new shipments. For many producers, especially in Mato Grosso do Sul, exporting is not currently a viable option.
Impact on Brazil’s Domestic Market
As a result, the domestic market has taken center stage. Demand from the poultry, swine, beef cattle, and ethanol sectors has helped sustain prices, despite the looming risk of downward pressure. Brazil still has between 45 and 47 million tonnes available for sale — a volume that could negatively affect prices going forward.
Analysts warn that while domestic consumption may provide temporary stability, international competition remains fierce and is likely to impact Brazilian producers in the coming months.
