Agribusiness grows more than 10% in Q2 2025

Brazilian agribusiness expanded 10.1% in the second quarter of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024. Overall GDP grew 2.2% year-on-year, according to data released on Tuesday (2) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
“The GDP result highlights the strength of agribusiness, which drives Brazil forward,” said Agriculture and Livestock Minister Carlos Fávaro. “It is a sector that invests, grows, and trusts in the Brazilian rural producer. We will continue working to deliver more results and open new opportunities.”
The sector’s performance was driven by the strong output of several crops, which, according to IBGE’s August Systematic Survey of Agricultural Production (LSPA), had significant harvests in the second quarter.
Highlights in annual production estimates and productivity gains include corn (19.9%), soybeans (14.2%), rice (17.7%), cotton (7.1%), and coffee (0.8%).

According to IBGE, in the first half of 2025, GDP grew 2.5% year-on-year, with positive results in Agribusiness (10.1%), Industry (1.7%), and Services (2.0%).
GDP for the four quarters ending in June 2025 grew 3.2% compared with the four previous quarters. This rate reflected increases of 3.0% in Value Added at basic prices and 4.2% in Taxes on Products Net of Subsidies. The growth in Value Added in this comparison came from the following performances: Agribusiness (5.8%), Industry (2.4%), and Services (2.9%).
