Brazilian wheat imports continue at a strong pace, according to data from the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex).
Despite the decline recorded in August 2025 (both compared with July 2025 and with August 2024), the total volume purchased from January to August 2025 is the highest since 2007.
Analysts explain that more attractive international prices have encouraged Brazilian millers to increase purchases, particularly from neighboring countries. In August, imports reached 493,230 tonnes of wheat — 20% lower than in July 2025 and 9.5% below the amount registered in August 2024.
Even so, in the past 12 months (September 2024 to August 2025), the volume was 13.5% higher than the previous period, totaling 6.77 million tonnes. For the year to date in 2025, imports reached 4.68 million tonnes, up 2.7% from 2024.
