DP World announces the renewal of a long-term contract with Hapag-Lloyd, one of the largest shipping companies in the world, for operations at the Port of Santos. With this agreement, the two companies reaffirm their partnership and ensure the continuity of container handling operations for the next 10 years.

To meet new demand, DP World will proceed with its port capacity expansion plan over the coming years, enabling both the receipt of new volumes and shipping services from Hapag-Lloyd and the continued provision of services to other carriers efficiently and sustainably, reinforcing its role as an independent and competitive terminal at the Port of Santos.

For Hapag-Lloyd, the contract also provides a solid foundation for continuing to expand its presence in the Brazilian market, ensuring predictability and efficiency in the development of its business in the region.

Expansion of the terminal in Santos

On August 21, DP World celebrated the groundbreaking of the expansion works for its berth, located on the left bank of the Port of Santos. Scheduled for completion in August 2026, the project involves adding 190 linear meters to the existing quay, bringing the total length to 1,290 meters. This expansion will enable the terminal to accommodate larger container ships.

With the project, which includes the acquisition of new container-handling equipment, the terminal will increase its annual handling capacity to 1.7 million TEUs by 2026, solidifying its position as one of Brazil’s most modern and comprehensive private multipurpose terminals.
