Arctic express route between China and Europe completes first voyage

A cargo ship carrying 4,890 standard containers departed from the Port of Zhoushan in Ningbo, eastern China, crossed the Arctic Circle in 20 days, and arrived on the 13th at the Port of Felixstowe, the UK’s largest container port — successfully marking the opening of the world’s first fast container shipping route between China and Europe via the Arctic.
The route passes through the Arctic’s northwest shipping channel to reach Europe. This reduces the outbound transit time from the Port of Zhoushan to Felixstowe by 22 days compared to traditional routes, cutting carbon emissions by around 50% per voyage.
