Fertilizer deliveries up 10.7% from January to July 2025

Fertilizer deliveries to the Brazilian market totaled 5.15 million tonnes in July 2025, up 11.7% from the same month last year, when 4.61 million tonnes were sold, according to the National Fertilizer Association (ANDA). From January to July, deliveries reached 25.29 million tonnes, an increase of 10.7% compared with the same period in 2024 (22.84 million tonnes).

The state of Mato Grosso maintained its leadership in consumption, accounting for 22.9% of the national total, equivalent to 5.78 million tonnes. It was followed by Paraná (3.54 million tonnes), São Paulo (2.67 million), Goiás (2.45 million), Minas Gerais (2.14 million), Rio Grande do Sul (2.07 million), and Bahia (1.65 million).

Domestic production of intermediate fertilizers closed July at 646 thousand tonnes, down 4.1% compared with the same month last year. However, from January to July, production reached 4.16 million tonnes, an increase of 6.6% over the 3.90 million tonnes recorded in 2024.

Imports also continued to rise. In July, Brazil imported 4.50 million tonnes, an increase of 19.7% compared with the same month last year. From January to July, total imports reached 22.98 million tonnes, up 12.1% from the 20.51 million tonnes recorded in the same period in 2024.

The Port of Paranaguá consolidated its position as the main entry point for imports, handling 6 million tonnes in the period — a 13.7% increase over 2024 (5.28 million tonnes). The movement accounted for 26.1% of all fertilizer discharged through Brazilian ports, according to data from Siacesp/MDIC.
