Petrobras boosts output and sets new record for crude oil exports

Petrobras’ oil production in Brazil grew 18.4% in the third quarter compared with the same period last year, enabling record crude exports by the state-owned company as new platforms ramped up and fewer scheduled shutdowns occurred, despite declining output in mature fields.
Petrobras produced an average of 2.52 million barrels of oil per day (bpd) in Brazil between July and September, compared with 2.13 million bpd in the same three months of 2024, according to the company’s production and sales report released on Friday (24).
See below a chart detailing Brazilian crude oil exports during the months of January to July, from the year 2022-2025. The charts were prepared using DataLiner data:

Compared with the second quarter, Petrobras’ domestic oil output rose 8%.
The increase was driven mainly by the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré reaching peak production — the unit entered operation in February this year in the Búzios field — and by the increased production capacity of the FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias in the Mero field.
On Monday (20), the company announced it had obtained an environmental license from Ibama, Brazil’s environmental regulator, to carry out exploratory drilling at a well in the FZA-M-059 block off the coast of Amapá, in the Equatorial Margin.
The next step will be exploratory drilling to determine whether there are oil and gas reserves sufficient to justify commercial production. At this stage, reserve estimates will be made. This phase of the process may last up to three years.
