Porto Itapoá has consolidated its position among the largest port terminals in Brazil. According to the ranking released by the National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ), the terminal remains first in Southern Brazil and third nationwide in container handling between January and August 2025.
A total of 545,304 units were handled during the period, representing 29% growth compared to the same months of the previous year. Porto Itapoá’s performance is significantly higher than the Brazilian average growth rate of 8.27%. The terminal is the absolute leader in container handling in both Santa Catarina State and all of Southern Brazil, second only to the Port Complex of Santos, in São Paulo.
With these results, Porto Itapoá reaffirms its prominent role in the national port sector, consolidating itself as one of the most efficient and modern terminals in Latin America.

The president also highlighted Itapoá’s strategic importance to Brazil’s logistics network. “Porto Itapoá is consolidating itself as a key link in Brazil’s foreign trade chain. Our productivity and reliability indicators place us among the top terminals in South America, which is a source of pride for Santa Catarina State and for the entire country,” he stated.
With consistent progress over recent years, Porto Itapoá continues expanding its operational capacity and investing in infrastructure. The Phase IV Expansion, currently underway, includes new yards and berths, reinforcing the terminal’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for cargo handling. “We remain focused on growing sustainably and responsibly, contributing to regional economic development and offering increasingly efficient logistics solutions to our customers,” concluded Arten.
