Brazilian cotton exports remain strong

Brazilian cotton exports remain strong. In October, the volume shipped was the highest of the month and the second-largest of 2025 (surpassed only by January), according to the Center for Advanced Studies on Applied Economics (Cepea).
Foreign sales have been driven by progress in processing and the outflow of large domestic surpluses, as well as by more attractive prices compared to those in the domestic spot market.
According to the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex), in the partial result for 2025 (up to the first week of November), the volume exported by Brazil (2.326 million tonnes) is already higher than the total shipped over 12 months in previous years, except for 2024, when 2.77 million tonnes were exported.
However, Cepea researchers indicate that, given the intense daily export pace in November, it is very likely that the total volume shipped in 2025 will surpass last year’s level, setting a new annual record.
