The works on Ilha Barnabé include the structural recovery of the Bocaina and São Paulo berths, including the reinforcement of piles and dolphins (structures used to moor ships). According to APS, the executive project will be developed alongside the environmental licensing process, which is currently under review by Ibama.

“With the completion of the project and the issuance of the installation license, it will be possible to begin the works, which are scheduled for the first quarter of 2026. Completion is estimated for the second half of 2027,” the port authority said in a statement.

According to the Santos Port Authority, once the executive project is finalized, it will be possible to detail the construction schedule. The goal is to increase safety and liquid bulk handling capacity without interrupting operations, through alternating use of the berths.

“This is a project that has been awaited for 15 years, which will optimize operations and expand service capacity. It is one of several initiatives APS has been implementing to improve logistics at the Port of Santos,” said APS president Anderson Pomini.

The location

Ilha Barnabé is one of the most important areas for the flow of liquid bulk at the Port of Santos, especially fuels and chemical products. In 2024, the segment handled 17.3 million tonnes, with highlights including diesel, gasoline, ethanol, and caustic soda, which supply a large share of the national market and the chemical industry.
