The port logistics company Super Terminais has presented new details on Porto Verde, a 240-million-real project under development in Itacoatiara to transport grains such as soybeans and corn.

The announcement was made by the company’s owner, Marcelo Di Gregório, during the Raízes do Investimento event, hosted by the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (Sedecti), this Tuesday (2) at the Senai Industrial District.

Di Gregório said the investment is expected to generate 130 direct jobs and 250 indirect jobs in Itacoatiara and nearby municipalities. According to him, the project area covers 300,000 square meters and has more than one kilometer of riverfront, ensuring operational capacity even under critical conditions.

The executive highlighted that the new terminal was designed to be permanent. “This Itacoatiara grain port is a definitive port, not a temporary one,” he said.

He explained that severe drought events, such as the one recently recorded in Amazonas, should not compromise operations. Di Gregório added that, in the event of another drought, the Itacoatiara terminal will be able to handle other containerized cargoes, supporting logistics in Manaus and preventing supply shortages.

Named Porto Verde, the terminal will operate exclusively for transshipment between ships and barges, with no cargo storage. Equipped with three high-capacity cranes, each capable of handling up to 2,100 tonnes per hour, the terminal will be able to serve Panamax-type bulk carriers, according to the company.

In addition to the new port, the company announced the expansion of socio-environmental programs, including reforestation, emissions inventories, and social initiatives, thereby strengthening the set of actions led by Super Terminais, already a reference in containerized cargo operations in the state.
