The Ministry of Ports and Airports ratified, on Thursday (4), the result of Auction No. 05/2025-Antaq, which establishes the concession of the Waterway Access Channel to the Port of Paranaguá. The decision confirms the Canal Galheta Dragagem Consortium (CCGD), led by FTS Participações Societárias S.A., as responsible for executing the project, thereby concluding the bidding phase conducted by the National Waterway Transport Agency.

The ratification represents a decisive step toward modernizing one of the country’s most important logistics corridors. The deepening and expansion of the channel will enable the entry of larger vessels, thereby increasing the Port of Paranaguá’s competitiveness and strengthening its strategic position in Brazilian foreign trade.

The decision took into account the proposal submitted by the winning consortium, the technical qualification by the Permanent Bidding Committee for Port Concessions and Lease Agreements, the conclusion of procedures at Antaq, and the elements contained in Processes No. 50300.008753/2023-51 and No. 50840.101005/2021-78.

Investments and strategic impact
The project, which involves an estimated investment of more than R$1.22 billion, will enable the deepening and widening of the main channel, while also ensuring continuous maintenance of its access depth and improving navigability conditions.

The interventions will increase the predictability and safety of operations and enable the berthing of vessels with deeper drafts, raising the capacity and efficiency of the Port of Paranaguá.

Next steps
With the bidding phase concluded and ratified, the winning consortium will proceed to the contract signing phase in accordance with the procedures established under current regulations. After the formalization of the contract, the implementation of the works and services will begin, creating a deeper, safer, and more efficient channel, thereby consolidating an essential milestone for the logistical development of Paraná and Brazil.

The modernization of the channel reinforces the Federal Government’s commitment to building a robust and sustainable port infrastructure, prepared to keep pace with the growth of Brazilian foreign trade over the coming decades.
