Brazil’s pork exports see the largest monthly drop since 2015

Secex data analyzed by Cepea show that Brazilian pork exports fell 26.3% from October to November — the steepest monthly decline since December 2015, when shipments dropped 28.5%.

A total of 105.2 thousand tonnes of pork were exported last month, the lowest volume since January of this year and also below the 111.5 thousand tonnes shipped in November 2024. Despite the downturn, cumulative exports in 2025 (through November) have already surpassed the total for all of 2024, reaching 1.35 million tonnes versus 1.33 million tonnes last year.

As for slaughter numbers, IBGE data analyzed by Cepea indicate that the volume of hogs slaughtered in the third quarter of this year was the highest ever recorded, with nearly 1.5 billion kilograms produced between July and September across the country.

Compared to the previous quarter, production grew 5.3%, and relative to the same period last year, 6.1%. Cepea analysts note that the third quarter is historically the peak production period of the year, while the fourth quarter tends to be the lowest.
