Brazil’s green coffee exports rise annually for first time since March

Brazil’s green coffee exports recorded their first year-on-year increase in December since March, the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex) said.

During the period, the world’s largest coffee exporter had been grappling with tight bean supplies and, more recently, with tariffs imposed by the United States.

At the end of November, the 50% tariffs introduced by Donald Trump were suspended, allowing shipments to resume as Brazil entered the market with larger inventories following the 2025 harvest.

Green coffee exports rose 4.2% from December 2024 to 210,300 tonnes, equivalent to 3.5 million 60-kg bags.

Even so, shipments edged down slightly from November’s total of 212,200 tonnes, according to Secex data.

The government agency also reported year-on-year increases in exports of soybeans, sugar, pulp, beef, poultry, corn, iron ore and crude oil, among other key Brazilian commodities.
