Portonave’s Iceport Cold Storage Cleared to Handle South Korean Animal Products

Iceport, the cold storage facility located within the Portonave complex, has been authorized to store animal-origin cargo from South Korea. The certification followed a rigorous series of quality and compliance audits conducted by Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and South Korea’s Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (APQA).

Last year, the facility posted a 12% increase in temperature-controlled cargo volumes compared with 2024, reflecting operational efficiency, logistics integration, and the expansion of certifications and international approvals.

Iceport is already accredited to store products from several global markets, including South Africa, Argentina, Canada, Chile, the United States, Russia, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Paraguay, the United Kingdom, the European Union and Uruguay, among others without specific requirements. The facility is also authorized to handle pharmaceuticals in a dedicated area designed exclusively for that segment, as well as Halal-certified products in compliance with Islamic standards.

The specialized logistics center operates in close integration with Portonave. Iceport’s infrastructure includes a fully automated pallet storage system with capacity for 280 movements per hour.

In 2025, poultry accounted for 60% of throughput, followed by vegetables (25%), beef (8%) and pork (7%). In the final quarter of 2025, Iceport was cleared to receive U.S. beef and pork, as well as Chilean beef.
