Brazil delays mandatory migration to new import declaration system until April 2026

The federal government has extended the deadline for phasing out the Import Declaration (DI), postponing mandatory migration to the Single Import Declaration (Duimp) until April 2026. The measure was announced by the Executive Committee of Siscomex, Brazil’s Integrated Foreign Trade System, and is aimed at ensuring greater security and predictability for import operations during the transition period.
With the change, operations for which the DI had been scheduled to be discontinued on March 23 and March 30 will now face new deadlines of April 22 and April 27, 2026, respectively. The updated timetable also seeks to provide greater operational stability for companies and foreign trade operators still adapting to the new system.
Despite the extension, the government reiterated that Duimp is already available for filing customs declarations in most operations. The exception remains for specific cases still listed as unavailable in the official timetable, which continues to be updated by the relevant authorities.
