Global giant gains ground at Port of Vitória after Peiú exit

Recent weeks have brought significant changes to the Port Complex of Vitória. The Peiú Terminal, operated by the Scopel family, left Operational Area 3 in Vila Velha on January 31 — a 40,000-square-meter site with an exclusive berthing facility.
The area, where Peiú operated for nearly three decades, will now be taken over by Portmac, a company that has a partnership with China’s Cosco, one of the world’s largest shipping lines.
Vports, the concessionaire responsible for the Port of Vitória, opted for an open bidding process for the area rather than a direct negotiation. The contract has a term of one and a half years and is intended to meet strong demand for imports of cars, machinery, and equipment.
Portmac, based in Espírito Santo, specializes in cargo handling, loading and unloading, storage, and offshore support operations in the state.
In recent months, Peiú has been acting as an alternative to ease pressure on the Vila Velha Port Terminal, the only container terminal in Espírito Santo, which is currently facing strong demand.
