Brazil’s federal government has opened an extraordinary budget allocation of R$6.49 billion for Brazilian export financing, covering individuals and companies that export goods and services under the Plano Brasil Soberano (Sovereign Brazil Plan).
The funding was authorized through Provisional Measure No. 1,397, published Wednesday, Oct. 21, in Brazil’s Official Gazette.
Under the measure, the resources will be administered by the Export Guarantee Fund (FGE), which operates under the Ministry of Finance.
The Plano Brasil Soberano is one of the Brazilian government’s initiatives to support businesses, exporters and workers affected by additional tariffs imposed by the United States.
Legal Basis for Brazilian Export Financing
As an extraordinary budget appropriation, the measure is based on Articles 62 and 167, Paragraph 3, of Brazil’s Federal Constitution.
