The year 2019 was one of achievements and advances for Portos do Paraná. With a new brand positioning, the Port Administration of Paranaguá and Antonina was the first in the country to have decentralized management for port leases. In movement, the previous balance already amounts to 51.6m tons moved. Until this week, there were 2,319 moorings.
According to CEO Luiz Fernando Garcia, the expectation is to reach last year’s record, when it was 53m tons. “We depend on weather conditions, but our forecast is to repeat the number,” he says.
Shipping efficiency was the big differential. Ship waiting times, from announcement to arrival at the pier, fell by 26%. In 2018, vessels took an average of 5.4 days. In 2019, it fell to 4 days.
Operation – Of the 51.6m tons handled, until December 18, exports represent 31.82m tons, surpassing imports by more than 13.9m tons.
The berth that moved the most was berth 213, one of the berths of the Paranaguá Port Export Corridor – where it has already passed 7.6m tons, in 126 moorings. The average berth productivity was 1,150 tons/hour.
Until the 18th, there were about 193 moorings per month: 875 solid bulk ships, 725 containers, 475 of liquid bulk, 139 vehicles, in addition to support vessels, seven naval moorings, and a passenger ship.
Projects – In addition to delivering the new viaduct at the entrance of Paranaguá, with investments of R$12m, the public company continued the modernization and expansion of berth 201, recovery of Bento Rocha avenue, and continued maintenance dredging services. The values of these works total R$609m.
For the next few years, Portos do Paraná has prepared the restoration and capacity expansion of Av. Ayrton Senna da Silva, the modernization of the Export Corridor, the submerged stones demolition, the recovery of the Pier of Flammables, and the execution of the drainage system of the port range. Along with the private sector, works are also being planned on Av. Atílio Fontana and the construction of a viaduct over the Roque Vernalha railroad.
