Salvador Port handles highly specialized project cargo worth R$2 billion

On February 11, the Port of Salvador shipped high value-added project cargo as a Saudi Arabian vessel named Bahri Jeddah left for Florida (USA), carrying 38 nacelles, 38 hubs and 38 generators. The equipment will be used to set up a wind power generation park in the North American city and was produced by General Electric Renewables Energy, based in Camaçari. Meticulous planning was necessary in order to transport the cargo from Camaçari to Salvador Port, where the equipment was stored until it was loaded.

According to the director of company Intermarítima Portos e Logística S / A, Matheus Oliva, “sales of such products generates enormous demand for specialized services and highlights the state, not only as a wind energy generator, but also as a manufacturer and exporter of equipment for such use, to the point of attracting the carrier Bahri Logistics from Saudi Arabia”.

This is the fifth of the 15 shipments scheduled to leave for the United States in order to complete the delivery of the cargo, which contains 403 pieces of wind power generation equipment, produced in Camaçari. The GE project is estimated to be worth approximately R$2 billion reais. The next shipment is scheduled to leave from Salvador on February 27, aboard vessel Bahri Abbah.
