Ranking of Brazilian and Plate Ports – January to November, 2020

A study by the DatamarNews team using DataLiner data provides a ranking of the Brazilian ports that most handled containers in Brazil and in the Plate region during the period from January to November 2020, for both exports and imports. The team made a comparison with the same period in 2019 and the result can be seen below:
BRAZIL
Among exports, the Port of Santos continues to lead in container handling, with 1,016,928 TEU, an increase of 7.05% over the previous year. Port of Pecém also did well, growing 48.46%. The Port of Fortaleza fell 32.94% compared to 2019.

In relation to imports, the Port of Santos was also the port with the most container movement, with 778,942 TEU, which is down 12.81% compared to 2019. The positive highlights are the ports of Itajaí, which grew 19.05%, and Port of Pecém, which registered a 20.09% increase in imports via container compared to 2019:

PLATE
Concerning the Plate, the leading exports are from the Port of Buenos Aires which shipped 390,959 TEU, an increase of 8.05% compared to 2019. In second place was the Port of Montevideo which also had a positive performance, with container exports increasing by 7.07%.

In imports, the Port of Buenos Aires also leads the list, with 447,095 TEU, down 8.75% compared to 2019. The Port of Montevidéo also had a negative performance, with 142,364 TEU, down 2.53% compared to 2019.
