Ship quarantined at the Port of Santos after crew member becomes ill and tests positive for Covid-19

On Saturday, July 31, Usiminas confirmed that a ship that is berthed at the company’s port terminal in the Port of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, had a crew member who was diagnosed with Covid-19. The vessel is in quarantine after the case was confirmed.
The company informed in a note that the vessel CS Crystal, flying the Bahamas flag, was immediately isolated and the shipowners and maritime agents activated the protocols provided for by ANVISA (the national health surveillance agency).
According to Usiminas, after authorization from Anvisa, the crew member with Covid-19, was sent to the Beneficência Portuguesa Hospital of Santos and the ship is in quarantine and awaiting testing by the other crew and instructions from the regulatory agency.
G1 has determined that the vessel arrived at the Port of Santos after an 11-day voyage originating in the Port of Dakar (Senegal).
