Chilean and Argentinean authorities participated in the signing of the act to start the works that will pave a stretch of the Bioceanic Corridor, between the two countries, through the Huemules border crossing. The initiative, which will be developed on national route 260, is 23 kilometers long and goes from the junction with provincial route 51 to km 81, at the height of the Argentine city of Lago Blanco.

The works to be carried out in this first section consist of the execution of a draining sub-base, an anti-freeze base, gravel berms, primer irrigation for the new road, and, later, the construction of a pavement. The project also includes excavation tasks, the construction of manholes, embankments, support walls, defense sites, placement of metal guardrails, horizontal demarcation, and vertical marking.

In addition, two bridges will be built, located over the Ñire and León streams near Lake Blanco. The deadline for carrying out the tasks is 30 months and the official budget is 1,810,183,677 Argentine pesos.
