After a stopover at the Port of Taipei, Taiwan, the largest container ship in the world – the Ever Ace – is headed to the Port of Yantian, China.
The ship is 400 meters long, 62 meters wide, and weighs 225,000 tons. It is larger than the HMM Algeciras which, until a few weeks ago, was the largest container ship in the world.
The Ever Ace has a nominal capacity of 23,992 TEU, and is the first Megamax-24 vessel owned by the shipowner Evergreen.
The container ship is part of a series of six ships built by the Samsung shipyard in South Korea and is the first to enter service.
Six other similar vessels are under construction in Hudong Zhonghua, China, although these vessels have a nominal capacity of 23,888 TEU.
