Foreign investors have expressed interest in federal concession projects planned for the Port of Santos – including the privatization of the port authority itself, which is in the final stages of study. The information is from the Ministry of Infrastructure.

On a recent trip to New York, the Minister of Infrastructure Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas met with institutions in the global investment market to present the Brazilian model of concessions and the transportation infrastructure assets that will be auctioned by the end of next year. The federal government’s objective is to gain R$ 260 billion by privatizing these concessions.

According to the Ministry, on the first day of Tarcísio’s roadshow, he and the other members of the Brazilian delegation met with executives from Pátria Investimentos, XP, Goldman Sachs, and the Australian investment fund Macquarie. On the second day, the agenda involved meetings with members of Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), Standard  & Poors, and the Council of the Americas.

Macquarie representatives expressed interest in privatizing the Port of Santos, according to the infrastructure portfolio. The investment fund manages a portfolio of projects valued at more than R$1 trillion and created a fund aimed at infrastructure businesses for Brazil and other countries.
