Workers threaten to stop loading ships In the Port of Santos
Oct, 25, 2021 Posted by Ruth HollardWeek 202141
About 100 workers who work in ship loading at the Port of Santos are threatening to cross their arms from December onwards. Their fear is that the company taking over the service at the end of the year will not keep salaries at the current levels.
Transpetro outsources the supply service. Currently, the service is performed by SC Transportes which readjusted workers’ salaries after two years. However, the Petrobras subsidiary opened a new tender and Navemestra won the bid with a price well below that currently practiced.
The information comes from Robson Barbosa da Silva, president of SINTAGRE (the union of waterway workers of Guraujá and the surrounding region). “We have received information that the company that won the contract has already declared that it will not be able to continue practicing the current salaries.
