SCPAR Port of Imbituba launches public notice for Pier 3

SCPAR Porto de Imbituba launched a public tender notice for the restoration and reinforcement of Pier 3 at the Port of Imbituba. The objective is to hire the engineering company that will be responsible for the executive project and the execution of the work. The public bid opening session is scheduled for February 2, 2022.

Pier 3 was built around 40 years ago and is still responsible for around 30% of the port’s handling. Its reinforcement will allow the installation of a shiploader, making it possible to increase its operational productivity.

The forecast is that the work will be carried out over 30 months in 4 phases. Among the improvements planned for the pier, the winning company will carry out superficial and deep repairs to the concrete, lay rigid pavement in part of the retro area, structurally reinforce the support piles, which will extend the berth by approximately 2.5 meters, readjust the drainage, and build two mooring dolphins.

The dolphins will make it possible to continue the operation of ships at the site during phases 1, 2, and 3. The port activities at Pier 3 will only be interrupted in the last stage of the work, as they cover the central section of the berth.

In the end, the installation of dolphins will make it possible to expand the capacity to receive ships up to 271 meters in length. For this, it will also be necessary to dredge the site depth from 12 to 15 meters. However, dredging is not included in this tender and will be the next step to be carried out by the port authority, based on bathymetric studies (depth measurement).

The electronic bidding for semi-integrated contracting will take place through Banco do Brasil’s “Licitações-e” system, and its judgment criterion is the lowest overall price offered. The Notice and the Terms of Reference/Basic Project are available on the website of the Port of Imbituba.
