In 2021, CODESA pulled off the best cargo handling results in the century after having handled 8.135 million tonnes, outperforming its previous best results, which were the 8.113 million tons handled in 2011.
The achievement was attained on the morning of the 29th, at 9 am, with the unberthing of the Resiliente ship from berth 204 of the Vila Velha Terminal (TVV), which was followed by a celebration with three tugboats honking for fifteen minutes and shooting water jets up. The expectation is that, by Friday (31), the total volume handled will go beyond 8.2 million tons.
See below how the handling rates associated with long-haul navigation looked like at the Port of Vitória in the last ten years.

Contributing factors
CODESA registered growth in all cargo profiles: solid and liquid bulk, containerized and lose cargo alike. According to Leonardo Bianchi, coordinator of Planning and Development, the positive number was only possible due to three factors: the fact that berth 207, in Capuaba, initiate its operations; the application of successful operation optimization initiatives that allowed productivity growth; and market-oriented commercial policies that enabled business growth.
“CODESA has been working to improve its indexes and, at the same time, place itself in the market more assertively as a provider of logistical solutions in its area of influence”, underlined Bianchi.
The tugboats that participated in the celebration were: Vela e Taurus, from the Wilson Sons company, and Hélio Ferraz, from Sam Smith. The Resiliente ship went to Rio de Janeiro – Companhia Docas do Rio de Janeiro (CDRJ).
