Private investment will boost fish processing in the Port of Fortaleza

An addendum to the contract signed between the Companhia Docas do Ceará and Compex will expand the mooring area for fishing boats in the Port of Fortaleza, generating jobs and boosting fishery in the state announced the Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas, on the 14th. According to the official figures, the total investment may reach R$ 36 million.
Approximately 1,200 jobs will be indirectly or directly created as a result of the new fish processing unit that will start operating in March. The structure will feature the capacity to process and freeze up to 50 tons per day, store 1,100 tons, and produce 100,000 kg of ice daily.
Also according to the minister, the jobs will bring income and wellbeing to fishing families in the state. “Nearly 300 families will have increased access to a salary and sustain their livelihood, Animal protein, fish protein, is invaluable. It is a market with enormous potential that has been brought up to daylight once again,” he asserts.
