Docas do Rio sees its revenue increase 55.4% in January

The Port Authority that manages the ports of Rio de Janeiro, Itaguaí, Niterói and Angra dos Reis, Companhia Docas do Rio de Janeiro (CDRJ), started 2022 with good financial and operational performance.
The company ended January with revenue of R$ 64.3 million. In nominal terms, such a result represented a 55.4% increase of R$ 22.9 million compared to December 2021.
According to CDRJ, the revenue seen in January 2022 was driven by iron ore exports, which contributed R$40.5 million (63.0%) to the total recorded in the month.
The Port of Rio de Janeiro stood out in the month. The earning of R$ 17.8 million exceeded by 3.9% the average earning registered in the entire year of 2021, reflecting the growth in container handling, the most important cargo for the port.
The handling of containerized cargo reached 0.685 million tonnes, representing an increase of 0.075 million compared to December last year. Compared to January 2021, the increase was 0.100 million tonnes (17.2%). The volume handled was about 58,261 TEUs, increasing approximately 4,323 and 3,415 TEUs compared to December and January of last year, respectively.
The report also highlights the handling of pig iron, with an increase of 0.094 million tons (183.4%), and steel products, which reached 0.086 million tons (142.6%), if compared to January last year.
