Wison Sons registered an increase in exports of juices and wine produced in Brazil through Tecon Rio Grande in April this year. The activity increased 62% compared to April 2021. In the first four months of the year, the growth was 8% compared to last year. The main consumer markets for these products were Haiti, the Netherlands, the United States, Japan, and China.

As for juice exports only, the increase registered in April was 123% at the Rio Grande do Sul container terminal. In the first four months of 2022, this figure goes to 9% comparatively. On the other hand, wine exports from Brazil grew by 120% in the last month and 79% in the first four months of 2022 at Tecon Rio Grande.

“The positive results obtained in the first months of the year speak to the importance of the added value of beverage exports. The year 2022 confirms the international market’s interest in purchasing Brazilian juices and wines. The segment demonstrates resiliency in a hard context for commercial maritime transport and port logistics,” says Paulo Bertinetti, the president of Tecon Rio Grande.

The encouraging figures for wine and juice exports in the first four months of this year reflect the growing trend seen in 2021. According to Uvibra (Brazilian Union of Vitiviniculture) data, Brazilian wine exports increased by 83.25% compared to 2020. In total, for the year, 8,132,342 liters, or 10.8 million bottles, departed Brazil and were shipped to 53 countries, including Paraguay, Haiti, Russia, China, and the United States.

If the volume of wine, sparkling wine, and grape juice is added, the total volume exceeds 12,437,524 liters compared to 6,586,262 last year. The highest percentage growth was in grape juice, with an increase of 144.59%, reaching 3,369,939 liters.

For Uvibra, good performance stems from the quality of national products, attractive exchange rates, and actions at trade fairs, trade missions, and promotional events. Another advantage is the variety of styles of wines and sparkling wines produced in Brazil, owing to the country’s continental dimensions and a world-class diversity of terroirs.

Nowadays, Brazilian production is present in 26 regions and ten states. The sector holds a very optimistic outlook for 2022, especially after the 2022 harvest ended successfully in terms of grape quality in spite of the severe drought registered in recent months.
