China puts another four Brazilian meatpackers on the back burner

The General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) temporarily suspended beef imports from another four Brazilian meat packers. Plants owned by JBS and Marfrig are included on this list.
In addition to the Brazilian units, China stopped buying from Russian and Uruguayan meatpackers. The GACC briefing does not explain the reasons for the suspension or clarify whether purchases will automatically resume after the embargo expires.
The Marfrig unit in Promissão, São Paulo, is prohibited from exporting to China for four weeks as of this Tuesday. In April, the same plant had already been embargoed for a week.
Another plant that had already been suspended was the one in Várzea Grande, in the state of Mato Grosso, also owned by Marfrig. The new suspension will be valid for seven days.
China also stopped accepting the import declarations of two JBS meatpackers for a week, the one in Senador Canedo, Goiás, and Lins, São Paulo. They hadn’t been embargoed recently.
