VLI inaugurates new fertilizer corridor at Brazil’s FCA railway
Nov, 03, 2022 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek
VLI started operating a new fertilizer corridor at the Centre-Atlantic Railway (FCA in Portuguese), which connects the Luiz Antônio Mesquita Port-Rail Terminal (Tiplam) to the recently opened Uberaba Fertilizer Terminal (TFER) in the state of Minas Gerais.
To facilitate the flow of the products, the company inked a contract in 2021, foreseeing an investment of BRL 40 million for the construction of a granary at Tiplam, as well as connection to other terminals and adaptations to train tracks, training of personnel and purchasing of a new fleet of locomotives, in addition to the expansion of the rail network that gives access to the III Industrial District of Uberaba.
TFER is preparing to meet the growing agribusiness demand in Minas Gerais with adaptations to its cargo movement, reception, and storage services.
The new transport corridor is part of a partnership between VLI and TFER, a joint venture between Link Logistic Group and Construtora Terraço, in a project that required investments of R$ 107 million from all companies involved.
