The Port of Paranagua reported, on December 1, the arrival of hundreds of cargo trucks in its sorting yard after a landslide obstructed roads leading to the port earlier in the week. The access routes were partially cleared the day before.
The port stressed that the flow of cargo vehicles to the coast of Parana state promptly resumed when a lane of the BR-277 highway, the main access road to the ports of Paranagua and Antonina, was deobstructed.
Near the highway’s kilometer 40, the traffic returned to normal for vehicles heading to the coast and the state’s hinterland.
From 12 am to 11:59 pm on November 30, 277 trucks arrived at the ports yard, where they await being called on to unload vegetable solid bulk cargo bound for export.
On December 1, as of 8:30 am, 155 that had been stuck on their way to the port completed the journey, according to the director of port operations at the port authority Portos do Paraná.
“As there is still enough room in the yard, we should be able to meet the repressed demand easily,” said the director in a note.
Around 9 am, around 148 trucks were at the site, which has a capacity for more than 900 vehicles.
