Chile continues to expand its export basket to Brazil, which already totals USD 18 million in sales of Chilean almonds and nuts alone in 2022. Brazil is Chile’s 8th largest consumer of walnuts, whose sales exceeded USD 14 million, an increase of 3.5% compared to the first ten months of 2021.
Turkiye was the number one walnut buyer, with USD 80 million, up 63%. Chile is the world’s third-largest exporter of this product.

Almonds
As a destination for Chilean almonds, Brazil ranked 4th, disbursing USD 4 million between January and October 2022, up 24.6% compared to the same period last year. Argentina appears as the first destination for Chilean almonds, with US$ 10 million spent and a growth of 37.4% compared to the same period in 2021. The information is from ProChile Brasil, a branch of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, based on official foreign trade statistics.
According to Hugo Corales, director of ProChile, the quality of the Chilean nuts, which is recognized as the best nut in the world, in addition to their light color and freshness, makes them a highly desirable product. Furthermore, because of its high content of phenols, fatty acids, and proteins, its consumption benefits those seeking a more natural and healthy diet.
“Another factor that contributes to the increase in purchases is the proximity of the two countries, which facilitates land transport. Furthermore, Chile has a privileged Mediterranean climate, allowing us to produce against the season and become one of the world’s largest exporters of nuts,” says Corales.
