Itajaí Port Complex achieves mark of 1.3 million tonnes in May

In May, the Itajaí-Açu River Port Complex achieved a significant cargo throughput of 1,376,674 tonnes. Regarding container handling, the port complex efficiently managed 124,282 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units). From January to May, the cumulative figures stood at an impressive 6,415,481 tonnes and 560,927 TEUs.
Throughout May, the port complex recorded a total of 72 berths. Among these, 66 occurred at the Portonave Private Use Terminal (TUP). Meanwhile, two made stops at APM Terminals and the Public Pier, another two at TUP Teporti, and the remaining two at TUP Barra do Rio.
Notably, the Port of Itajaí, including the Public wharf and APM Terminals, handled a cargo movement of 17,309 tonnes. From January to May, the cumulative figures reached 156,124 tonnes and 282 TEUs.
At Portonave, an impressive total of 1,348,387 tonnes and 124,282 TEUs were registered. From January to May, the total was 6,174,754 tonnes and 560,603 TEUs.
In terms of vessel maneuvers, a total of 72 turns were executed within the Turning Basin area. Among these, 28 maneuvers took place in Basin 02 (Baia Afonso Wippel), 40 in Basin 01 (in front of APMT and Portonave), and four additional maneuvers were performed at the upstream terminals. From January to May, the total count of maneuvers in the basin areas amounted to 383.
TUP TEPORTI efficiently handled a total cargo volume of 10,452 tonnes, while TUP Barra do Rio expertly managed 526 tonnes.
A noteworthy event in May was the arrival of the Eurasian Highway vessel at the Port of Itajaí. This Roll-On/Roll-Off ship successfully docked at APMT (berth 02) and unloaded 816 vehicles. The offloading process included 390 vehicles from the renowned German automaker BMW and an additional 426 units from General Motors (GM), a prominent North American automaker.
Furthermore, during May, a Panamanian pulp ship played a crucial role in transporting an impressive cargo of 15,890 tonnes of pulp. The vessel was securely moored within the leased area of APM Terminals.
Both operations involving pulp ships and vehicles were efficiently carried out by the esteemed company SC Portos.
