Indonesia Approves Brazilian Exports of Yerba Mate
Aug, 22, 2024 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202434
Indonesia has granted Brazil permission to export yerba mate to the country, opening a new market for Brazilian producers, particularly in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and Paraná.
Brazil’s agricultural exports to Indonesia surpassed $3.69 billion in 2023, with 74% of that total coming from the soybean and sugar-alcohol complexes. In the first seven months of this year alone, Brazil has already exported more than $2.44 billion worth of agricultural products to Indonesia.
With this new authorization, Brazil’s agribusiness sector has achieved its 100th market opening of the year, bringing the total to 178 openings across 58 destinations since the beginning of 2023.
This positive outcome is the result of collaborative efforts between Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
