Justice overturns suspension of bidding for services in the Port of Itaqui

The head judge of the 7th Civil Court of São Luís, Ana Célia Santana, granted an injunction overturning the suspension of bidding for the provision of services in the Port of Itaqui.

The decision was a victory for the company that won the event, represented by the Hallef Advogados Associados office, which was prevented from taking on the contract after the co-authoring port authority failed to comply with the terms of the public notice.

According to information, the arbitrary revocation of the bidding process was published unilaterally on June 27 of that year.

In view of this, it determined that the coercive authority provide information on the case within 10 days.

The decision will guarantee the maintenance of several jobs, as well as the transparency and fairness of the process.

With more than 50 years of expertise in imports and exports, the Port of Itaqui is one of the most competitive public ports in the international market, due to its favorable natural conditions for attracting large ships, its proximity to the main markets and the modern infrastructure.

The Port of Itaqui handles millions of tons of cargo annually, being the main channel for the flow of cargo produced in the central-north region of Brazil. The port activity in Itaqui generates, on average, 14 thousand direct and indirect jobs, which feeds several production chains in Maranhão and throughout the area of influence.
