TCP announces 19th weekly line service

From September onwards, the Paranaguá Container Terminal (TCP) is set to welcome a new service line from the shipowners COSCO Shipping Lines/OOCL and Ocean Network Express (ONE). Each shipowner respectively designates the service as East Coast South America-Europe 2 (ESE2), Europe-East Coast South America Express (EEX), and Latin-East-Coast Europe Express (LUX). This route establishes a connection between Europe, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and the East Coast of South America. With the introduction of this new line, TCP will now offer 19 weekly maritime calls, further cementing its status as a leader in services within Brazil.

The inaugural call is slated for September 23, featuring the COSCO vessel Xin Nan Tong, carrying 4,200 TEUs (20-foot-long containers). Departing from Uruguay, the ship’s journey encompasses stops in Argentina, Brazil, Spain, the Netherlands, England, Germany, Belgium, and Portugal. The return voyage will cross Spain, Brazil, and Uruguay.

Carolina Brown, the person in charge of TCP’s relations with shipowners, explains, “This new line service will offer two weekly calls at TCP, expanding our leadership position in the number of regular services offered with global coverage and connectivity. This new line will move various types of goods, including a substantial export volume of refrigerated cargo. Paranaguá currently ranks as the world’s largest export corridor for chicken meat, and this new service effectively addresses the growing demand within our terminal.”

It is equipped with three berths (the points where the ship docks at the pier) and seven teams that operate on board vessels.

The executive also comments on the recent draft expansions that the Port of Paranaguá underwent: “Draft expansions yield operational benefits for shipping companies, leading to more efficient utilization of vessel capacity. These expansions enable larger vessels to operate within our port, thereby attracting new shipping lines.”

This marks the terminal’s third announcement of new service lines. In February 2023, the company introduced calls on the Braservice service, operated by the Panamanian shipowner CTM and represented in South America by Poseidon Container Shipping. Furthermore, in August, TCP revealed the GS1/UCLA2/GSA service linking the Gulf of the United States to the East Coast of South America, established through a partnership between the shipowners Hapag-Lloyd, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), and Ocean Network Express (ONE).
