The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, met with representatives from the meat industry to discuss China’s revised export qualification queue concerning meat processors applying to export to the country in Asia.
The General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) requested the Brazilian government to provide a smaller list than the previously submitted 62 units.
Fávaro emphasized that China’s revised export qualification queue will respect chronological order, giving preference to those who met the requirements first.
The minister accepted the industry’s suggestion to allow reallocation among processing units within the same business group.
Participants in the meeting included the Director of Institutional Relations of the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), Marcelo Osório, the President of the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries (Abiec), Antônio Camardelli, the Director of Government Relations of Abiec, Carlos Franco, and the President of the Brazilian Slaughterhouses Association (Abrafrigo), Paulo Mustefaga.
The chart below provides a monthly breakdown of Brazilian meat exports (beef, pork, and poultry), measured in metric tons, between Jan 2019 and Jun 2023. The data is from DataLiner.
