DP World Brazil, the operator of one of the largest and most modern multipurpose private terminals in the country located on the left bank of the Port of Santos, announces the arrival of a new commercial service line from Cosco Shipping Lines/OOCL and Ocean Network Express (ONE).
The service, named East Coast South America-Europe 2 (ESE2) and Latin-East-Coast Europe Express (LUX), offers an additional connection option between Europe and the Mediterranean to the East Coast of South America. The route follows Rotterdam, London Gateway, Hamburg, Antwerp, Lisbon, Algeciras, Santos, Paranaguá, Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Itapoa, Paranaguá, Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Algeciras, and Rotterdam.
The inaugural voyage departed from Montevideo on September 20 and docked at DP World in Santos on September 25 with the ship Xin Nan Tong from Cosco Shipping Lines. The vessel has a capacity of 4,200 TEUs (equivalent to 4,200 twenty-foot containers) and a length of 263 meters.
The new service includes calls at major ports in Northern Europe, with strategic layovers in Lisbon and Algeciras, providing cargo connectivity options to key destinations in the Mediterranean and the Middle East. In South America, in addition to Brazil, the LUX/ESE2 will have a weekly stop at the Río de La Plata Terminal in Buenos Aires, which DP World also operates.
“DP World has state-of-the-art infrastructure and a team of experts in refrigerated cargo ready to receive the new service and meet the expectations of the carriers and other customers involved in the operations. This will be a significant advantage for the export of reefer cargo, such as animal protein and fruits, as we will offer competitive transit time service with weekly departures to one of Brazil’s major export markets,” explains Rodrigo Gomes, Senior Commercial Manager at DP World Brazil.
This is the second service that DP World has announced in 2023. In May of this year, the terminal launched a new regular cabotage line called the Amazon Express Service, operated by carriers Login and Aliança, with non-stop journeys between Manaus and Santos, heading to Southern Brazil. From DP World, the service calls at the ports of Navegantes, Salvador, Suape, Pecém, and Manaus. In the southbound direction, the express route takes nine days, enabling cargo to reach its destination faster. This service also supports increased cargo capacity in cabotage between Brazil’s South, Southeast, North, and Northeast regions.
